Fever Dreams
It’s hot. Power grids are having trouble coping. Growing numbers of people, particularly older and poorer people, aren’t coping any too well, either. And we’re hardly more than a month into summer.
It should be fairly obvious, therefore, what’s on my mind.
Of course, meteorologists are quick to caution that we can’t actually blame global warming for any particular hot day, or even a string of hot days. And that’s reasonable enough; hot weather in summer is not a new phenomenon. But the phrase “global warming” rather firmly implies that cool weather is on its way to obsolescence. (Except in Europe if the gulf stream collapses, maybe.)
But let’s face it. I’ve beaten the tar out of this horse. Again, and again, and again. A dead horse just isn’t going to move, and neither is a dead issue. (more…)
