go team two wheels!
results of the 2010 iowa city to coralville bike-bus-car race will shock you:
1. bike
2. bus
3. car
the driver got there fastest, but then had to drive around looking for parking while the cyclist and bus passenger cruised on by.
i don’t think i ever want to live in a city where i can’t pedal everywhere i need to go in under an hour.

Hooray! As it happens, I’m essentially doing lengthy rush-hour freeway commuting every day this week for the first time in more than a year and a half, and boy does it still suck. And yet that’s a big part of why we allegedly need to go to the bottom of the ocean and risk environmental catastrophe for oil. Yeah.
I will admit that I tried a bike-centric lifestyle for a while, a few years back, and it didn’t really work out. Fortunately between working at home most of the time and finding one of the country’s few real gems of a community in which you can walk to most other regular destinations (and of course pedal there, for those who wish), I’ve found an alternative that is satisfactory both personally and from the perspective of my liberal cred.
