Come to think of it, it just occurred to me that:

“Right-wing humor” is to “something actually funny” as

“McDonald’s” is to “food” and

“Sprawling expanses of R1 connected by a freeway to strip malls and big box stores” are to “a community.”

(Which, in addition to summing up “conservative humor,” probably also serves as a hint about why progressives, despite being generally smarter, wittier and more thoughtful, seem to consistently come in second in America.)
